A.I. C-Lap Seam Welding Machines are designed for high speed operation in continuous process lines in Steel Mills, providing minimum stop time for coil joining. The high strength limited overthickness joint produced by the C-Lap Welder can remain in the coiled strip for subsequent processing.
The C-Lap Seam Welding Machine with integral double cut shear joins the trailing and leading ends of the coils in a single pass mode.
As the welding heads traverse the overlapped strip ends to produce a continuous seam weld, following planishing rolls apply pressure on the joint to reduce overthickness.
The technique produces welded joints with the increase in thickness restricted to 10% of parent metal or 0.075mm depending on strip thickness.
In general, the efficiency of the joint is 100% of the parent metal in the fully annealed condition.
